Spotify Celebrates Its First Anniversary In Ghana
Happy 1 Year To Spotify!
Last year Spotify officially announced a global launch and became available in many markets including Ghana.
Since the launch, Spotify has stated that there has been a 22.28% increase in new local songs added to the Spotify platform by creators in Ghana. Ghanaian Afropop has also enjoyed a 160% growth in the United States since Spotify became accessible in Ghana.
Currently, there is not other data on how many Spotify users are in Ghana as the platform competes with other streaming players including Boomplay and Apple Music.
One could ask if Spotify will start trying to get podcast exclusives from local content creators as it tries to expand into podcasts in the African market.
We’ll have to wait and see what year 2 looks like the Swedish streaming service
